What's A Difficult Topic Or Conversation To Have With Your Doctor?
Weight! If one more medical professional tells me to eat more veggies or practice portion control!!! The condition itself and the meds I take make it harder to lose weight! I’m not sitting around eating Twinkies!!
Explaining my attacks in detail. Last time I went to the doctor I tried explaining what happened during an attack and I was taken to the hospital. And the whole time in the ambulance I couldn't talk. Couldn't feel hands or feet... The two EMTs had my name wrong and my age the whole ride. And they thought I was having panic attack but my heart rate was low low. That made me frustrated too. Then had another attack at the hospital. Not a good day AT ALL!
Don’t ever be afraid to bring up ANY topic to your doctor. If something is bothering you or concerns you, it needs to be discussed. If he’s not listening, he’s the wrong doctor for you. You must be your own best advocate. I am a Nurse Practitioner & tell my patients that I am the complaint dept. I want to know what’s wrong, what’s working & if you’ve been compliant with the treatment I ordered. I want the truth.
I’m treating a lot of patients with psych problems. One of my most difficult is a patient with a Kraton addiction. Be very careful
I’d say weight. I hardly eat and still weight over 300lbs. So my sdoctors idea was to eat more of the right things. I followed his suggestion and after gaining 20lbs went back to one slice of cheese for breakfast. 2 teaspoons of peanut butter for lunch. 4oz of protein and as many steamed vegetables as I want to eat. Which isn’t much.
