Nuvigil is the 'new'(er) version of Provigil. The very, very short story is; In the U.S. Cephalon held the Provigil (generic: 'modafinil') patent. After it ended, generic versions could be made and sold by competing companies. Cephalon then developed Nuvigil (generic: 'armodafinil') which has a slightly different chemistry, (but enough to be patented) which essentially has the same effect as modafinil. Armodafinil has a slightly longer half-life and reportedly doesn't have the 2 common side effects of runny nose and backache that modafinil is know to potentially cause. Both are now available in generics.

I take the new one AR Mod and work a job that I get to around 11 and leave at 3:30 or 4 so I don't fall asleep driving. I still have some off days. But at least can get to my job. My job knows I have Narcolepsy and they are very accommodating. It also took 4 years but I did get social Security. They called it daytime Somnolence I and my Dr calls it Narcolepsy.
