Advice?

A MyNarcolepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Knoxville, TN

My boss called me in for a meeting today because i've been consistantly late. I just cannot get up in the morning. No matter how many alarms I set or how many automated things I set up I sleep through it. The only thing that gets me up is the sheer panic when I realize I overslept. Again. It's affecting my job performance and my self-esteem. I have an appointment with my sleep specialist this thursday but I'm not sure there is anything that can be done. I'm already on medication. I stay awake… read more

Does Anyone Else Struggle With Getting To Places On Time? (No Matter How Hard You Try Or The Hoops You Jump Through To Get There On Time) 😩

A MyNarcolepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Rochester, NY

I am consistently always always always 5-10 minutes late. The perfectionist inside this Narcoleptic body absolutely hates it, to the point of extreme self hate and I swirl down into depression and very low self esteem, if any. I don't have much support from family or friends. They are always quick to point out my flaws and especially my lateness or cancellations with getting together because I'm too afraid to drive (as I can be having a really really really bad day and I don't feel safe driving)… read more

How Many Of You Become EDS-free With Your Medication? Is It Even Possible?

A MyNarcolepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Buffalo, NY

My EDS, from what I gather, is quite severe. Because of this, it does not take much for my stimulants to become ineffective. I am constantly informing my doctor about this. The messages are mostly ignored or met with shrugged shoulders at this point because I have taken the highest amount of any option you can think of. My doctor is also against a routine cycling of prescriptions to keep my body "guessing" even though I'm sure it would help. While my Xyrem prescription seems to be helping my… read more

Anyone Suffering From The Stimulant Shortage?

A MyNarcolepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Worcester, MA

I was diagnosed in 2015 when I was 23, but I have had symptoms my whole life. I get cataplexy when I laugh really hard but otherwise it's not bad at all. I also live with Bipolar disorder (recently diagnosed) and am trying to find a better balance of medications.

I have been taking lisdextamfetamine (vyvanse) for years but when I started taking medication for bipolar, it stared feeling less effective. I want to find a better combination, but I am so anxious about changing my meds, but with the… read more
