I'm newly diagnosed with narcolepsy. I suspected it for years but was too embarrassed to talk to the doctor about it, as I had to admit I regularly fall asleep at work. Funny thing is, in the same appointment he again diagnosed me with ADHD. So, he prescribed me Ritalin for both ADHD and narcolepsy. Is this the only treatment out there for narcolepsy? What other treatments are there?

I’ve been taking 15mg of adderall 3 times a day. Most of the time it works, I just hate the crash at the end of the day and I feel like it changes my personality. I took adderal for years, but felt like I was sleep deprived even though I was awake. I switched from a neurologist to a sleep specialist who took my off Adderall and put me on wakix. No change with that. We added xywav a couple months ago. I have diagnosed Narcolepsy, with 200mg Modafanil 2x a day.

I find myself in a pickle that hopefully my support network can help me with. I have been plagued by the debilitating symptoms of my T1N and cataplexy for majority of my life.
