Help Me Get A Life

A MyNarcolepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am on methadone replacement therapy for narcotic pain pill addiction. What can I do to have a somewhat normal life. I fall asleep everywhere it doesn’t matter what I doing. Driving talking to someone using the restroom taking a bath. Etc
Please if someone can help me find out what I can do, I would be so thankful. I have no life I just exist.

Try subutex its much better than methadone! And it actually makes it hard for me to sleep, which is an unusual side effect but still.

Every sleep doctor I've been to claims that my methadone maintenance is my sleep problem! I know that's total bull crap because I've been on methadone since 2005 and my narcolepsy just started in the past year and a half. I'm actually on a lower dose now than I was before so it doesn't make any sense. That just shows how ill informed the medical community still is about addiction and medicated assisted treatment, MAT programs
