How Do You Deal With Sleep Paralyses?
Since developing narcolepsy two years ago, I've also been plagued by some nasty sleep paralyses. No hallucinations, thankfully, but there are mornings where I wake up, hit my alarm, and then get trapped in this sleep-like trance where I'm fully concious of my surroundings, but I can't move for 45 minutes to an hour. If someone shakes my shoulder, that breaks me out of my paralyses, but how can I ask for help if I can't even move? How can I help myself? I've missed so many classes and work shifts… read more
I read this because I have had two episodes. The episodes are very debilitating and the articles say the paralysis only lasts for maybe 20 minutes. Mine lasted for an hour or almost 1.5 hours. My doctor said I was wrong and did not have sleep paralysis but something else. So I looked it up. If you work at moving your fingers and toes this will help to get you out. I was frustrated because the first time the ambulance came and it took 6 or 7 people to pick me off the bed to the stretcher. 2 I slept and Mon. I remembered nothing with dark bruises all over my arms. The ambulance men were pinching me saying that I was faking it. I could not feel or move. Move your fingers and toes even if you can't, it will help. I hope this helps.
You're definitely not alone on this at all.
