I too have narcolepsy Type 1, but my cataplexy has always been fairly minimal, but still significant enough that I avoided social interactions where I might be around strangers who might see me buckle when I experienced something that would trigger my cataplexy because most folks think that 'falling down funny' is just an expression.
I don't know if you are taking any medication for your narcolepsy/cataplexy, but I have found that Ritalin works pretty well for me. It is not 100%, but it will do. Good luck to you in your search for help with your condition.
