I'm Newly Diagnosed With Narcolepsy.
I'm newly diagnosed with narcolepsy. I suspected it for years but was too embarrassed to talk to the doctor about it, as I had to admit I regularly fall asleep at work. Funny thing is, in the same appointment he again diagnosed me with ADHD. So, he prescribed me Ritalin for both ADHD and narcolepsy. Is this the only treatment out there for narcolepsy? What other treatments are there?
What kind of doctor are you seeing?
There is an extended release Ritalin. However it affected my bipolar disorder when I took it and the quick release don't.
I am prescribed Ritalin and vyvanse. Personally I hate the Ritalin , I only use it when I run out of my vyvanse because it always takes a while to get refilled. The Ritalin is to much at once and my vyvanse is a time capsule medication so it releases slowly. It also makes a difference in the way I feel waking up because the time capsule releases for 13 hours. I have to take one in the morning before work and one after work. Ask your doctor about vyvanse I’m sure you’ll like them better than Ritalin, Ritalin makes me feel jittery, anxious and after a few hours depressed and moody
