Is Anyone With Type 1 Narcolepsy, Which Includes Cateplexy, Had Any Success With Meds Which Help Reduce Cateplexy? Prescription Or Other?
My cateplexy is becoming more frequent as time goes on.

After 3 years I had to stop the XYREM. I had excessive weight loss and frequent wakings during the night.
I currently take ’indica pm’ 10mg THC and I sleep so well. No sensation of feeling high. Just restful sleep.
I have been using Wakix for about 10 weeks now and my cataplexy has lessened, I sleep better and stay awake longer. I still need to take my naps but have been able to sleep for 4 hours (WOW! Big deal for me) . My dreams do not seem as vivid and I cannot remember them very well as before my dreams were vivid and I remember every detail and would wake up tired as if I had actually lived the dream. I mean I was working shifts as a chef in a restaurant, every thing went wrong but still I persevered. I've been in the restaurant business and food distribution business for almost 60 years before I retired about 6 months ago. But it seems I still working the night shift in my dreams,LOL! Crazy! well it has eased off since taking Wakix.
It’s so hard I know. Blessings xo
Thank you Brini, I will do some reading on this and also ask my neurologist.
Venlafaxine had benn mentioned before for the cateplexy, chance to ask more questions.

I used to have really bad cataplexy and completely fall down when I laughed or got really stressed out. Xyrem was a game changer and helped a lot. Currently I cannot take xyrem, so I'm taking venlafaxine 75mg (Effexor-XR) which is also very effective for me. I also take Adderall XR 40mg to stay awake.
