My Doctor Prescribed Wakix For Me Because Of My Narcolepsy And Cataplexy. My Insurance Company Is Covering It, Thank Heaven.

A MyNarcolepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Is anyone out there taking Wakix? Has it helped you? My concern are side effects, etc. Let me know what you think of it. Thanks!😴

It's all poison

I've been on for a little over a month. At the beginning it actually helped quite a bit by helping me actually "feel awake" a big chunk of my morning. The rest of the day I began my normal decline but it was no where near the crash and burn that is was prior to Wakix. I was truly impressed. It has been, since early beging it, waking me up daily around 5:30 am, but its a wide awake wake up call. So having from 5:30 am until 11am ish, is the longest amount of time I've ever had of actually feeling mind and body together awake. As time has gone on though, I'm starting to have side effects such as migraines, tremors, feeling off balance, and all together feel almost just sick. It still helps me feel awake but if this is the cost of it, I really don't know which is worse. I still can't really function because I just feel ill, with no energy because of it, instead of the extreme fatigue and no energy. I'm still continuing Wakix to see if the side effects will subside but it's really hard to even want to try. Stuck between a rock and a hard place :(
If not for the side effects, it has definitely been the best relief of symptoms I've had out of all the other meds I've tried. I think I would at least give it a try if I were you because you never know if you'll have any side effects at all and may only have the benefits. I wish you luck.
