I have narcolepsy 2 and sleep apnea. Using the CPAP didn't make a significant difference in daytime sleepines but it's better for my heart to use it. So, I do, even though the masks irritate my skin.

I’m not certain how to interpret your statement, but if this helps…
I’ve got Secondary Narcolepsy. (caused by damage to the hypothalamus) and have mild sleep apnea. I’ve tried a CPAP machine but just couldn’t tolerate the constant air flow, which horribly dried out my sinuses & throat, even with the humidifier turned up all the way, so I gave up on it. Years later I found out there’s a BiPAP machine, which uses sensors and only has positive airflow while you’re inhaling.
IF you are prescribed a machine to treat your apnea- go for a Bi-PAP machine.
My brother (not narcoleptic) has severe apnea and using a BiPAP machine has changed his waking life. He was close to being a walking daytime zombie before!
