Good Morning My Friends. Is There Anyone Who Has Narcolepsy Without Cataplexy That Doesn't Take Medication And Just Deal With The Issues?
I just met a couple from my Naptown Narcoleptics Facebook group who do that. I don't have cataplexy, but there's no way I can even try to function with meds!
I take Ritalin but if I know I am going to be out with people and involved in an activity, I do not always take medication. For me, as long as I am engaged with people or activity, I tend to be okay. It is when I am alone and not active such as reading or watching tv that I can’t stay awake. I live alone and am 79 years old and naturally require rest during the day which makes fighting to urge to sleep too much dufficuky. Altho’ I have always seemed to require much more sleep than others, it wasn’t until I was alone in my late 60’s that I was diagnosed and treated. I am and always have been tired. I have never waked up full of energy and enthusiasm for getting up but until diagnosed, I thought it was normal. Now with or without meds or activities, I could sleep most of the time. Staying on my feet and involved in something or with other people is the best way for me to cope.
