Why Won't Any Doctors Help Me Get Medicine Management I Need?
Narcolepsy w/o Cataplexy. Currently taking nuvigil 250mg once per day with little benefit. My neurologist will not provide any other medications without a psychiatrist due to the Air Force saying I have bipolar over 10 years ago. They have me feeling like I am a cursed patient. All I am asking for is a stimulant to supplement the wakefulness medication. I can't stay awake, and I have a hard time staying focus once the sleep attacks start. I'm glad to know it helps. I've been asking for any stimulant for over 2 years now and I keep getting shutdown because they say the bipolar is too much of risk. I guess the lack of help is less of a risk.
You need to find a neurologist with a special interest in narcolepsy. Nuvigil did help me a little but not nearly enough. Been on methalphenidate for over 60 yrs. now and have been able to function reasonably well. Hang in there and keep looking, it's not an easy search.................................
