Has Anyone Tried The New Drug "Orexin" ?
I was diagnosed with "Narcolepsy 1" 43 years ago. I have had several different drugs prescribed over that time. So far all were designed to treat symptoms
because they didn't know the actual cause of Narcolepsy. In the late 90's it was discovered that a deficiency of the hormone "Orexin" (also called "hypocretin) was the root cause. So, since it takes 5-20 years to develop a drug, Orexin has just recently come out on the market.
I am eager to know how the "real thing" would work !
I hope it works my wife just found out that the loss of hypocretin causes narcolepsy
Try Sunosi 150 mg per day is what I am taking, I seen a specialist in NYC, day 2 and so far its very good, I would say life changing right now. I hope it doesn't wear off etc..
Looking it up now, not seeing it on line. There are other meds but I don't think orexin is a drug name
Yes heard about also but I'm sorry I don't know how it works. Meeting with the sleep doctor in NYC if I get my prior authorization approved. I will try to get a script for it. Hopefully it will be covered
Thanks for asking this question. I'm constantly looking for new clinical trials for narcolepsy but they haven't gotten there yet, I guess.
How Do I Get Drs To Take Me Seriously?
Did Anyone Else “diagnose” Themselves First?
Can Someone Please Help Me Understand Why Narcolepsy Takes So Long To Diagnose? What's Wrong With Our Society?
