This is a tough question. It's so hard not to feel like a victim to narcolepsy. I think it can be easy to want to throw up your hands and say screw it. The biggest thing I can recommend would be therapy. In particular, someone trained in CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy). They can help her learn new ways of thinking about her situation that would give her a boost. My therapist has been a life saver. Dealing with chronic illness is no joke. Also, ensure the adhd is being treated. When left untreated, people can feel the urge to self medicate. Feel free to message me if you have any questions. God bless 💜

I think that it is imperative that I share my experiences since I have learned so much given the full life that I have.I have faced many tragedies and have celebrated many
successes. I am grateful for it all for it is in the facing of tragedies that a person really grows. Two of my 5 children have passed away. I have had about 20 surgeries in my life more than half of them life saving including cancer and open heart surgery.I believe that my higher power has plans for me and one is that I share my experiences in order that I may be of service to others. I thank you for posing the question so that I can continue to carryout my purpose.

this is a tough question. I don't think that you can make her want to have a better life. I would be so proud of her to be in sober living at 21 years old. She will make changes when she is ready and it looks like she already made a change getting sober. Most of her inspiration will come from an adult who is not her parent. From someone she admires. That is just how it goes . Just show your love by accepting her as she is and praise her for getting sober . If she is only 21 years old she has plenty of time for change. Praise her for anything she accomplishes even if you do not think it is great, she thinks it's great.

Wow! You have a wonderful outlook. Very wise. I know this disease is so hard to live with and my prayers for my granddaughter (my husband and I raised her from 4 yrs old so she is our daughter) that she can make wise decisions during her life journey. I know God has a plan for her so I give it to Him everyday. It’s really helpful to see how you have maneuvered and accept the fact that God made you the way you are. I hope others read and see how hard this is but there is always hope. Thank you for helping me see this in another light.
