I Am Currently Struggling To Hold On To My Job. Despite All Efforts, I Have Received Two Bad Assessments In The Past Two Years.

I've been giving a lot of thought to filing for disability. I honestly don't know how people with this illness are able to maintain their lifestyles when holding on to a job is a struggle. This struggle is REAL.

Me too. Probably going to lose my job - the one thing that I have worked for, spent my whole life developing skills for, and have a passion for.

Being denied is harsh. Especially since narcolepsy is recognized as a disability. I'll look back at your response later today, but with a doctors note, factual information, & compromisable requests, a 504 plan should not be rejected. The ADA requires accommodations.

I applied for a workplace accommodation. Essentially they denied it. I mentioned it in my reply in the last review. Now their trying to cover themselves by having conversations about naps and breaks. There's no empathy for things they don't see. The struggle to stay awake, focused and productive is real. It zaps my energy! So, despite all efforts, the quality of work is suffering 😫. This week has been a sleepy week and a struggle each day. I'm off this Friday and looking forward to it.

I had a 504 put in place at my job. My daughter has had one for school for her Narcolepsy so I used a similar request.
The 504 sets as a kind of protection. My Dr. wrote a letter when I filled out a 504 request for work. My 504 addresses arrival time, breaks for resting/napping, standing for mtgs, etc. It's kept confidential only to key people unless I bring it up.
