Having narcolepsy, does it make u angry or just a little upset when other people that really don’t understand you say “I wish that I could sleep like that” or is it just me? I’m saying “I wish that I could stay awake like u!”

This past year I have come to realize that I have such a hard time getting myself in that mind frame to “go to bed”. Don’t get me wrong, it takes me only minutes to fall asleep, it’s just a matter of settling down to go to bed. I have tried no caffeine after a certain time, to no cell phone/computer use but I just have a hard time settling down. I have read where insomnia can occur. I am so sorry for all of us with Narcolepsy plus a lot of us come with many other health issues. I think we have gone through a lot and if only the ones that don't get it would only go a day in our shoes. My friends here I would like to say I am proud of you getting by and doing what you have to to complete your days. This is our life and we have to except how difficult some days can be. I will be in a conversation or just listening, I will fall asleep dreaming and when I wake, I will ask or answer a question or give my opinion about nothing at all. I will also do this when I'm alone. So far I have said nothing that would be close to offensive to anyone, no calling names, cussing. How common is this?

Im a young man in my 20’s and I'm married I don’t have any yet. Id like some my wife says she definitely wants some but i worry so much about my narcolepsy and how it would limit my ability to take care of them. I wouldnt want to hinder her or my children. Especially financially or just securing their safety. I don't want to put all the responsibility on my wife because my narcolepsy makes my reliability inconsistent. Any response or tips is helpful.

Even though I sleep 9-10 hours a night, my neurologist said that I have been severely sleep deprivation for over a year and it is effecting my memory and cognition to the point of being diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Disorder.. Anyone else?

I was diagnosed a few yrs back with dry eye syndrome.?. I was told by my optometrist that people with Narcolepsy sometimes sleep with our eye slightly opened.!?. Wondering if this is true & if any others deal with this issue? 🤔

I have narcolepsy with cataplexy and I would say moderate to severe eds, I get sleep attacks but I don't go to sleep. I fight it so hard and try to stay moving. Also I have racing thoughts that keep me from relaxing very much. Yet I feel like I could fall asleep at any moment. It is so crazy! Please let me know if you experience anything like this.
