Has anyone ever heard of 2 siblings having Narcolepsy. My younger brother claims to have it as well.

Especially when it’s family aye. If there is anyone that should ‘get it’ I hoped it would be my family. They saw me go through the gruelling process of getting a definitive diagnosis. More than anyone they have first hand experience with the reality of it. So when they get tired and try to convince me they also have narcolepsy it’s so upsetting. It’s insulting infact. I feel even more isolated and misunderstood than ever. I don’t blame them, I’m sure if roles were reversed I too would be just as insensitive!

My grandfather, father, brother, cousin, nephew, and 3 of my 4 children also have narcolepsy.

I feel you when it comes to people finding out you have this then all of sudden they think they have it as well. It can be very frustrating.

I’m curious about this also. In my family we think my granddad possibly had narcolepsy, he was diagnosed with epilepsy (absence seizures). His symptoms were exactly the same as mine. No body else in my family has it. Both my brothers dodged that genetic bullet as did my mother and her two sisters and their children.
I now have my own child and he asks me how likely it is that he will one day suffer this fate….I hope not.
My family have all at some point loved to tell me how tired they are and talk about their ‘symptoms’ thinking they also have narcolepsy. It’s pretty annoying I have to admit lol As we all know too well, being tired is only the tip of the iceberg with narcolepsy.
I stopped listening to them a long time ago lol I just nod and smile now and change the subject lol 😉
