I have had that happen to me many times. My doctor said they are a form of hallucinations and are called hypnagogic hallucinations upon waking up and hypnopompic hallucinations upon going to sleep. Finding an excellent physician that specializes in narcolepsy will help you the most! Take care and know you are not alone in your journey!
