Has Anyone Here Explored The "gift" Side Of Narcolepsy?

A MyNarcolepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Tallahassee, FL

I for one know that I have an incredible ability to dream and recall those dreams compared to others. If someone was to ask me to tell them a story, all I would have to do is tell them one of my dreams and their jaw drops in amazement and then I tell them "oh that was just my dream last night" and then they're even more blown away.

I've read that some theorize that perhaps the shamans of the past were possibly narcoleptic because "they had one foot in the waking world, and one foot in the… read more

When Your Narcolepsy Is In Full Effect Does It Feel Chemically Induced As If You Took A Bunch Of Sleeping Pills?

A MyNarcolepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Cumberland, RI

When my narcolepsy kicks in for me it sort of feels chemically induced as if I’ve taken a hand full of Ambien vs not sleeping for a few days. It’s almost like I get this slight feeling down the back of my neck, it’s hard to describe. Does anyone else get this as well?? BTW I don’t have cataplexy, not sure if it makes a difference. Please let me know if you know what I’m talking about and can describe it in your words.

A MyNarcolepsyTeam Member

It surely does!

Something I've Noticed About Sleep Paralysis...

A MyNarcolepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Collinsville, IL

I mean we can start to move a little with enormous effort, or we can make a little noise by trying to scream or we can blink or move our eyes and hopefully a spouse notices and will shake you to wake u up. Even prayer when we see the "demonic" entity. We can see that our struggles are starting to work. We are breaking free. Then when we wake up we feel a little better and a little less afraid of the next encounter. BUT (I suspect many of… read more
