Do Stimulants Help?

A MyNarcolepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
La Mesa, CA

When I was first diagnosed beginning of high school, my doctor had me try a couple different treatments. One of them was Ritalin, but I was wary of pills and didn't want to go that route. College has really been testing my limits, and I'm starting to fall behind. Do stimulants help any of you guys? Which kinds help the most? Do side effects outweigh the pros? Thank you!

I’m taking Modafinil and it is helpful. At times I feel a bit anxious in the mornings after I’ve taken my modafinil.

Does Anyone Have Suggestions Medication Wise? Adderall Makes My Anxiety High And I'm On Modafinil.

It was that way for me too. They've changed it to Sunosi. So far, I'm not as anxious as I was with the Modafinil and the Adderall.

Has anyone changed from xyrem to xywave? What is your experience with either of them? Both have changed the taste, and what foods I eat, has that happened to you?

I Also tried the Wakix not on a clinical trial and it did nothing for me. It was like I was not taking medication at all.

Doc Prescribed Wakix. Anyone Out There Taking It? Has It Helped At All? Have You Had Any Bad Side Effects? Thanks For Any Feedback.

I take it, it helps some. It is hard to tell about just the Wakix because I also take my Adderall at the same time.

I Am Taking 400mg Modafinil For Uncontrollable Daytime Sleeping And 80mg Fluoxetine For Cataplexy Total Collapse, Both Are No Longerworking.

A MyNarcolepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Chesterfield, UK

I can take a full dose of Modafinil and, if I allow myself, go straight to sleep in seconds.
I am taking a full dose of Fuoxetine and experiencing total loss of muscle control and collapse. It worked like magic at first but now I am back to where I started.
Please, is there anything else I can try?

A MyNarcolepsyTeam Member

What is a full dose of Provigil? I thought you could take at least 500mg a day but that depends if your doctor signs that off. I change my dosage depending on what I am doing. If I can, then I will… read more

Cedar Rapids, IA

I’ve been on Armodifinil for 8 months and have tried Adderll and Ritalin on top of it but I’m allergic to the armodfinil and Ritalin and break out in hives. My doctor is going to put me in Wakik. Does it work for you and what is your thoughts on it?

A MyNarcolepsyTeam Member

I take 1 pill 17.6mg I think, and it works fine for me. I also take 75mg of Sunosi.

Meds For Cateplexy?

A MyNarcolepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Boise, ID

Does anyone who has type 1 narcolepsy and takes meds, how do these help or no, to ease, or reduce your cateplexy spells? What are the meds you take?
I take sunosi for the sleepiness, but it does nothing to ease my cateplexy.

I would appreciate any input please, than you.

What Are You Taking For Daytime EDS Stimulant That Actually Is Effective For You? Im So Tired All The Time.

A MyNarcolepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Holts Summit, MO

Been extremely tired lately. I’m taking my full dose twice nightly of Xywav but seem to wake up much earlier than four hours each time. Also taking Nuvigil during day but wondering if I need a different or 2nd daytime supplement. In the past at one point or another I have taken Ritalin, Adderal, Vyvanse, even tested Pitolasant in trials. What is everyone currently taking that works for EDS?
