Why Won't Any Doctors Help Me Get Medicine Management I Need?
Narcolepsy w/o Cataplexy. Currently taking nuvigil 250mg once per day with little benefit. My neurologist will not provide any other medications without a psychiatrist due to the Air Force saying I have bipolar over 10 years ago. They have me feeling like I am a cursed patient. All I am asking for is a stimulant to supplement the wakefulness medication. I can't stay awake, and I have a hard time staying focus once the sleep attacks start. I was recently on wakix and that pretty much ruined my… read more
I'm glad to know it helps. I've been asking for any stimulant for over 2 years now and I keep getting shutdown because they say the bipolar is too much of risk. I guess the lack of help is less of a… read more
Does Anyone Else Take New Nuvigil?
I take the new one AR Mod and work a job that I get to around 11 and leave at 3:30 or 4 so I don't fall asleep driving. I still have some off days. But at least can get to my job. My job knows I… read more
How Well Does Modefil Or Provigil Work For EDS And /or Cateplexy?
Newly Diagnosed. Dr Started Me On Nuvigil 200mg. I Feel Horrible!
Doc says he hasn’t had such a + test in years. Says I will probably need a second med added. A few hours after taking this med I feel like I’ve been sedated: flat affect, headache, no energy(but no extreme sleep episodes). At this moment, I’m not sure if treatment is worth it.
That has not been my experience. It's not great, but there is some stimulation. One of the many challenges with narcolepsy is the medicinal part of it. Medicine will work for some but never for… read more
The Only Neurologist Locally Is Ready For Retirement And Will Only Prescribe Ritalin Which Makes Me Stay Awake All Night And Makes It Worse.
The nearest neurologist besides that one is 2 hours plus away and I can't drive that far and especially not often. I know there are better prescriptions on the market for the narcolepsy what do I do?
With the COVID pandemic, numerous providers added telehealth appointments option. I'd recommend that you contact your health insurance and ask about neurologists offering telehealth, as well as… read more

I Have Narcolepsy. My Medication Isn't Working Anymore.
I was prescribed provigil 200 mg 2 x day 16 years ago. It worked great for 13 years. About 3 years ago around 2 pm my medication had wore off. So I started taking 3 tablets a day (600) mg. So I had medication for 20 days and suffered the last 10 days because I didn't think my doctor would prescribe 3 a day
Now my problem is provigil tolerance. One day it works and most days it doesn't. Has any one that has taken this for a long period had this to happen to them? Any suggestions on what I need… read more
I asked my doctor specifically yesterday wether or not generic was different than name brand he said it could be a "little" different but....not really a difference.?. Something like that. He didn't… read more
Do Stimulants Help?
When I was first diagnosed beginning of high school, my doctor had me try a couple different treatments. One of them was Ritalin, but I was wary of pills and didn't want to go that route. College has really been testing my limits, and I'm starting to fall behind. Do stimulants help any of you guys? Which kinds help the most? Do side effects outweigh the pros? Thank you!
I’m taking Modafinil and it is helpful. At times I feel a bit anxious in the mornings after I’ve taken my modafinil.
Anyone Have Issues With Prescriptions Fills?
I take generic Adderall two forms 30 mg XR and 30mg IR and since October there has been major shortage in this country and I've been able to get 10 pills and 10 capsules out of the 30 my prescription is written for. Then I asked for a solution and doc wrote a script for Ritalin and that does nothing for me. I also live in Ohio and since I can't work am on medicaid and the politicians think the solution to illegal drug use is to require all medicaid recipients on controlled substances to be… read more
Nuvigil- Will I For Sure Eventually Need To Add Medications?
I have read many stories online of people doing well on Nuvigil for awhile, but then as time goes on having to add a "booster" medication halfway through the day. I want to know if I should expect this, or not. Has anyone been on Nuvigil for a long time with no decrease in effectiveness? Some sources also suggest taking a couple days off the medicine to curb resistance. Has anyone had experience with that?
